Crowns, Inlays, and Onlays in Scottsdale

Crowns

When bacteria and plaque eat away at the enamel, it leaves a tiny opening into the inner tooth. At this point, you have what dentists refer to as a cavity.

For more seriously damaged teeth, we may consider a crown. A crown is a type of restoration used when the root is intact but the majority of the upper tooth is at considerable risk.

Crowns are beautiful caps made of porcelain or other dental material, colored and shaped to match the hue and contour of your natural teeth. Like a cavity, the damaged layer of the tooth is removed, and the crown is fitted over it, renewing your complete smile.

Inlays and Onlays

If a cavity progresses too far, standard fillings no longer fit the bill. Not to worry! We have procedures that can take care of your advanced cavities. Inlays and onlays are a lot like crowns, where a portion of your tooth that has decayed is removed and replaced with an inlay or onlay that protects the tooth from any further decay.

Inlays and onlays can be made of various materials depending on your specific needs. If you feel as though you have cavities that are advancing, or you have tooth decay, we’d love to hear from you as soon as possible.
